Gunshots were heard in an apartment in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. In a statement from the York District Police, it was stated that an attacker in the building opened fire around him.

While 5 people lost their lives in the armed attack, the suspect also lost his life in the clash with the police. Police also announced that one person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police MacSween said in a statement at the scene that there was no situation threatening public safety and said, "We express our condolences to the families of the victims."
