Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, said in a statement: "Angela Merkel has shown great moral and political courage by helping more than one million refugees overcome difficulties. It was a really strong act against those who advocate discrimination. Merkel showed to us that when politicians make the right decisions and instead of blaming others, It showed what can be done when they try to find solutions to the world's problems." he said.
