This year, tens of thousands of people from the surrounding provinces attended the carnival held in Cologne, which is considered the capital of the carnival.

The celebrations, which begin at 11.11 on November 11 each year, will continue until March next year. While 1,100 police and many security guards attended the celebrations, the participation was intense despite the cold weather.

Celebrations attended by 150 carnival associations; It is held annually in the Neumark, Heumarkt, Zülpüscherstr districts and Dom Square.

Color Parade Cancellation

In a statement made by the carnival committee, it was announced that the parades, in which hundreds of tons of candy and chocolate were distributed to the public from specially prepared vehicles, will not be held, and said, "Due to the armed conflicts in Ukraine and the related suffering, the parades called Rosenmontag (Pink Monday) have been cancelled."

In addition to the city of Cologne, celebrations are also held in Düsseldorf, Mainz and other cities adjacent to the Rhine.
