While the world is still struggling with the Covid-19 and Monkeypox outbreaks, a new epidemic warning has come from India. It has been announced that a highly contagious virus has spread among children in India.
Known as tomato flu, the disease was first detected in May this year and has so far infected 82 children under the age of five.
Tomato flu, which takes its name from the red blisters on the skin, also causes high fever, rash and intense joint pain.
So far, it has been confined to the Kollam district of the Indian state of Kerala and nearby Anchal, Aryankavu and Neduvathur, and authorities have taken measures to ensure it does not spread.
