Unstoppable 'strike' in Germany! More than 300 flights were cancelled

More than 300 flights have been canceled in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia due to the 24-hour strike of public employees.

More than 300 flights were reportedly canceled due to the 24-hour strike of the Verdi union in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Düsseldorf Airport officials announced that 205 of the 330 flights planned due to the strike were canceled and 29 were diverted to other airports. Cologne Bonn Airport officials reported that 131 out of 136 passenger flights were canceled as of last night.

Labor union Verdi is demanding raises for public sector workers, airport ground handling workers and security guards, arguing that their salaries are insufficient in the face of rising living costs.

While the union wanted a 10.5 percent raise or at least 500 euros for workers, negotiations between the two sides have so far not progressed.
