France 24 dismissed anti-Israeli journalists

France's state-run channel, France 24, dismissed four journalists who made anti-Israeli posts on social media and used the term "martyrs" for dead Palestinians.

Paris-based state-owned France 24 news channel launched an investigation against 4 journalists after the allegations on the website of the pro-Israel US-based media organization CAMERA.

In the statement made by the channel, it was stated that three journalists, including three journalists, who worked as reporters in the channel's Arabic broadcast, were suspended from their duties as precautionary and duly until the conclusion of the investigation.

In the article on the website of the pro-Israel media organization, it was claimed that Joelle Maroun, who has been working as the Beirut correspondent of the channel since 2021, made racist statements on Twitter in 2013 and 2014.

It was claimed that Laila Odeh, a Palestinian Jerusalem reporter working on the channel, used the term "martyr" for the Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and called the Arab League to "arm" her in her Facebook post.

It was stated that Dina Abi-Saab, who has been working as a Geneva correspondent for France 24's Arabic broadcast since 2016, also used the term "martyr" for the Palestinians who lost their lives and drew similarities between Israel's attacks in Gaza and the September 11 attacks.

In the article, it was claimed that journalist Sharif Bibi, who has been working on the channel since 2014, also referred to the dead Palestinians as "martyrs" and made a post threatening to destroy Israel.
