Flash decision after 61 years in Germany! Explanation like confession

While Germany said goodbye to nuclear energy by locking the doors of its last 3 nuclear power plants, which were operating after 61 years, mutual accusations increased due to the uneasiness created by the energy crisis.

The main opposition Christian Democrat / Christian Social Union Parties (CDU/CSU) Bundestag Group Chairman Friedrich Merz described the closure of nuclear power plants as 'a black day for Germany'.

Merz, who is also the President of the CDU, said, "The world is building nuclear power plants. Currently, there are over 400 nuclear power plants operating. 60 nuclear power plants are under construction. In Germany, the government is shutting down the operation. It is impossible to understand this illogicality."

The Green Party, which has been against nuclear energy and nuclear power plants since its establishment, defended the decision.

The Green Party Assembly Group included the following statements in a tweet it shared on social media;

Today Germany has abandoned nuclear energy and moved into the era of safer and cheaper renewable energy. Thus, both energy security and climate protection will be ensured, while not being dependent on authoritarian regimes, the economy will be strengthened by creating good jobs. Greens Co-Chair Ricarda Lang said, "Abandoning nuclear energy is a complete transition to renewable energy," while his party mate Steffi Lemke, the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, said, "With the closure, nuclear power plants have become safer in Germany.'

While the debate was going on in Germany, a statement like a confession came from the government.

According to the news in British Sky News, the government admitted that the plan had negative aspects.

According to the same news, the German government acknowledged that even if it takes steps to greatly increase electricity production from solar and wind, in the short term the country will have to rely on more polluting coal and natural gas to meet its energy needs.

OPEN LETTER FROM SCIENTISTS TO SCHOLZ

A group of international scientists, including Nobel Prize-winning scientists and famous climate researchers, sent an open letter to Prime Minister Olaf Scholz yesterday, saying, "Emsland, Isar II and Neckarwestheim II nuclear power plants will be reduced by 32.7 billion kilowatts in total. It means that it can provide electricity to a quarter of more than 10 million households.” The scientists added that nuclear energy would be more beneficial for the environment than coal.

In the open letter, it was underlined that France, England, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands are planning to establish new nuclear power plants, while Belgium and Switzerland are looking for ways to extend the operating licenses of existing nuclear power plants.
