Boat sank off Indonesia's Sumatra Island! There are many dead and missing

A boat sank off the Indonesian island of Sumatra. At least 11 people died in the aftermath of the horrific accident, missing persons reported.

The boat carrying 78 people sank after taking off from the port in a town in the Indragiri Hilir Regency region of Riau province on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

Rescue team was dispatched to the area. In the statement made by Pekanbaru Search and Rescue Agency, it was announced that the lifeless bodies of 11 people were removed and 58 people were rescued, some of whom were unconscious.

It was reported that most of the passengers returned from their hometowns to spend the Eid al-Fitr with their families. While the cause of the boat's sinking is not yet known, some survivors stated that the boat crashed into a log during high winds and sank.

The search for missing persons continues.
